We show a wide range of international and art house films once a month, ussually on the second Friday in the month. The society was formed in 2006 and is open to members only, who can also bring guests. 

We hope that being a member of the film society is a little bit more than watching films locally. We try to stay away from the mainstream, putting together a programme based on variety and critical acclaim rather than box office takings. We usually have a short intorduction to the film beforehand and there’s a discussion afterwards. We also try to canvas our members’ views – see AGM summary.

We are a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation and a member of the Yorkshire Group of Film Societies, which is a Regional Group of the British Federation of Film Societies. We use their block-booking service to bring you films at low cost.
