Screenings at The Memorial Hall, Lairgate, Beverley, East Yorkshire

Welcome to...

We show a wide range of international and art house films once a month in the Memorial Hall, Beverley, East Yorkshire. The society was formed in 2006 and is open to members only, who can also bring guests.

We hope that being a member of the film society is a little bit more than watching films locally. We try to stay away from the mainstream, putting together a programme based on variety and critical acclaim rather than box office takings. We usually have a short intorduction to the film beforehand and there’s a discussion afterwards. We also try to canvas our members’ views – see AGM summary.

For the 2008/9 season we plan to show a complete season of films and will be using the Memorial Hall until April 2009, when it is scheduled to close for rebuilding. We are currently looking into alternative venues as a temporary home for May 2009 and the beginning of the 2009-10 season. We will keep all members informed of developments.

We are a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation and also a member of the Yorkshire Group of Film Societies. This is a Regional Group of the British Federation of Film Societies. We use their block-booking service to bring you films at low cost.
